A Building Management System (BMS) is a computer-based control system installed in buildings that controls and monitors the building’s mechanical and electrical equipment such as ventilation, lighting, power systems, fire systems, and security systems. A BMS consists of software and hardware; the software program, usually configured in a hierarchical manner, can be proprietary, using such protocols as C-bus, Profibus and open standards such as DeviceNet, SOAP, XML, BACnet, LonWorks and Modbus.

The data center is vital to any organization. Thousands of servers process and store essential business data, demanding the most robust fire protection solutions available. Kidde fire detection and suppression systems detect the earliest stages of a fire and then extinguish it in seconds by discharging a clean suppression agent that penetrates the burning enclosure. In a demonstration at a fire testing facility, engineers replicate a data center fire and test the differences between a clean agent fire suppression system and a water sprinkler system. During the test, each is used to extinguish a fire in a server cabinet. The results are dramatically different. With the Kidde Clean Agent System, the advantage is clear. Headquartered in Ashland, Massachusetts, Kidde Fire Systems is a world ...
Frank Brimhall of Profire Energy describes how burner management systems work for oil and gas wells. The PF2100 is a full-capacity BMS that uses spark and flame-detection technologies to automatically light and relight the burner in atmospheric heaters. It also provides the ability to manage temperature control and safety shut downs.
Fire and smoke dampers are an integral part of air distribution systems and are critical links in the life safety systems associated with most buildings. In this webinar you will learn the common control methods for fire and smoke damper actuators and assemblies, dedicated and non-dedicated systems as well as application solutions from Belimo. Find out more about how vehicle fire suppression could benefit your business: http://www.fireward.co.uk/ Automatic fire suppression from Fireward is imperative if you want to protect your vehicles from the threat of fire. In this video we show how many companies, across different sectors, rely on their vehicles - whether it’s loaders, diggers, lorries or grabbers. Fire can quickly spread, causing irreparable damage to vehicles, which in turn can halt your operations. Not only will this downtime cost you money, but you’ll also face the cost of replacing essential machinery. This video highlights the speed with which our fire suppression systems can tackle a fire, giving you automatic protection which more and more insurance companies are requesting as a minimum to grant a policy. There...
Charles Darwin University PhD student, Kate van Wezel, discusses her CRC student research project, 'Towards culturally appropriate fire management in the Waanyi and Garawa lands'. The project is a collaboration with the Waanyi and Garawa people in assessing the challenges and opportunities of longterm culturally appropriate fire management. This is a video that shows what happens upon detection of a fire within an atrium building here in California. Building codes in the United States require a smoke control system in atriums, high rise buildings, and other structures. Smoke control systems are designed to safely evacuate smoke out of a space during a fire. This video depicts what occurs upon detection of a fire and what building components are connected through the smoke control and fire alarm panel.
Smoke and fire protection provided with flexible textile (fabric) enclosures for multistory atriums in buildings can reduce or eliminate the need for atrium smoke control and smoke evacuation systems. Code-compliance meets architectural aesthetics with the Smoke Guard M4000 fire curtain. No corner posts required!
Emergency Film Group's 'NIMS: Introduction to the National Incident Management System' DVD provides NIMS video training describing response protocols for hazardous materials, terrorist and other major incidents.
